Orders and shipping

Where do you ship?

We ship to South Africa and the United States, with tracking on every order.

How much is shipping?

Shipping is a flat R99 on orders under R599, and free on orders of R599 or more.

How long will my order take?

Your order is packed and dispatched within 1 to 3 business days. Delivery to South Africa usually takes 2 to 4 weeks, and occasionally up to 7 weeks during busy periods or customs delays. Delivery to the United States usually takes 5 to 11 business days. Full details are on our shipping page.

How do I track my order?

As soon as your order ships, we'll email you a tracking number and link. Tracking can take a few days to show movement while your parcel is in transit to its first sorting hub.

Why did my order arrive in more than one parcel?

If you order several puzzles, they sometimes ship separately so nothing is held back. You'll get tracking for each parcel, and you only pay shipping once.

Will I pay customs duties?

South Africa: SARS may charge import VAT or duties on some parcels when they arrive. United States: duty-free entry for low-value parcels has been suspended, so US customers may be asked to pay import duties on delivery. Any duties are set by customs and paid by the recipient.

Payments and currency

How can I pay?

You can pay by card through Yoco, or with PayPal. Both are secure, and we never see your full card details.

What currency will I be charged in?

All orders are charged in South African Rand (ZAR). If you're shopping from outside South Africa, use the R ZAR / $ USD switch at the bottom of the screen to see approximate prices in US dollars. Your bank or PayPal converts the Rand amount at checkout, so the final dollar figure may differ slightly.

Choosing a cube

Which cube should I start with?

If you've never solved one, start with the MoYu Meilong 3x3. It's smooth, forgiving and affordable. If you want a few sizes to grow into, the MoYu Cubing Classroom Gift Set is a great start. If you can already solve a 3x3, the MoYu RS3M 2020 is the best upgrade you can make.

What's the difference between a speed cube and a normal cube?

A speed cube is built to turn smoothly and quickly. It cuts corners (turns go through even when slightly misaligned), doesn't pop pieces out, and often has magnets that help each layer settle into place. A toy-shop cube is usually stiffer and catches more, which makes learning harder.

Magnetic or non-magnetic?

Magnets inside the pieces pull each layer gently into alignment, so the cube feels more stable and controlled, especially when you're turning fast. Non-magnetic cubes feel lighter and looser, which some people prefer. For most people learning to go faster, magnetic is the way to go.

What does stickerless mean?

The colours are built into the plastic instead of stuck on, so nothing peels, fades or scratches off.

I can solve a 3x3. What next?

Try a 4x4 or 5x5 from the Meilong range, a Pyraminx or Kilominx for a new shape, or a mirror cube, which solves by shape instead of colour.

Looking after your cube

Should I lube my cube?

Our cubes come ready to use. Over time, a drop of silicone cube lube can keep them turning smoothly. Use it sparingly, and never use household oils or sprays like WD-40, which can damage the plastic.

How do I clean it?

Wipe it with a soft, slightly damp cloth and let it dry. Don't soak it or put it in water, especially magnetic cubes.

A piece popped out. Is it broken?

Usually not. Most pieces click back in with gentle pressure. If it keeps happening or something is cracked, contact us, as faulty puzzles are covered for 6 months.

Returns and safety

Can I return my order?

Yes. You have 7 days after delivery to change your mind on unused items in their original packaging, and puzzles that turn out to be faulty are covered for 6 months. See our returns page for how it works.

Are these suitable for kids?

Yes. Cubing is great for kids, building patience, memory and problem-solving. Small items like keychain cubes contain small parts and aren't suitable for children under 3. Magnetic cubes should be kept away from young children who might put pieces in their mouths.

Is my cube an official Rubik's Cube?

No. Rubik's is a trademark of Spin Master. We sell speed cubes from specialist makers such as MoYu, QiYi, ShengShou and GiiKER, which are built for smooth, fast solving.
